At Roots on the Roof, our programming creates opportunities for students and community members to connect with food systems through hands-on learning, collaboration, and shared experiences.
From gardening workshops and skill-building sessions to community events and campus collaborations, our programs are designed to make food, sustainability, and urban agriculture accessible to everyone. Whether you are learning how to grow your own food, exploring the connections between food and society, or simply spending time in the garden, there are many ways to get involved.
Workshops and education programming
Our workshops provide opportunities to learn practical skills and explore topics related to gardening, sustainability, and food systems.
Through hands-on activities and community-led learning, participants can develop new skills while connecting with others who share an interest in growing, learning, and creating more sustainable food systems.
Our workshops are open to students and community members of all experience levels. No experience is required!
Community events
Beyond the garden, Roots on the Roof hosts community events that bring people together around food, sustainability, and connection.
Our events create welcoming spaces for students and community members to meet one another, celebrate seasonal milestones, and engage with food systems in meaningful ways.
From garden gatherings to larger campus events, our programming reflects our belief that food is a powerful way to build relationships and strengthen community.
Collaborations & Community Partnerships
Roots on the Roof regularly works with student groups, campus organizations, and community partners to support initiatives connected to food, sustainability, and student engagement.
Through collaborations, we contribute gardening knowledge, volunteer support, and community-building opportunities to projects both within and beyond our garden space.
